Want to become an interdisciplinary creator and manage diverse content through different identities?
Introducing Dcard’s brand new feature — Multiple Personae ✨
With this new feature, you can create and switch between multiple personae within the same account. Users can switch between different identities based on their content types, enabling more precise audience targeting and community management!
Haven’t created your first personae yet? Check out this article to get started: What is a Nickname? How to enable or edit it?
This feature is currently in testing and is only available to selected users. Each user can create up to 2 personae for now.
How to set up a second persona?
At the top of your "My Wall" page, to the right of "Private" and your existing persona, you'll see an add icon. Click on it to start setting up your second persona and persona ID!
After creation is complete, you'll be able to choose which identity you want to use when posting or commenting!
Notes
- Once content is published (including posts, comments, or jots), the chosen persona cannot be changed or edited afterward.
- In boards that require verification, when you post or comment for the first time using a persona, the selected persona will be locked for all future interactions on that board. After publishing, you can only continue using the same persona or anonymous mode — switching is not allowed. Please choose carefully.
- In the same article, once you leave a comment using a certain nickname, you must continue using that identity for all subsequent comments. Even if you delete your comment, you cannot change the identity.
- If you're the article's poster replying to your article, you must use the same persona you used to publish the post.
- To protect the privacy between multiple personae, each persona has separate stats for follows, post count, and private messages.
- Once a private message is sent, the initiating persona cannot be changed. Be sure to double-check that you're using the correct persona before sending a message.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will others know what personae I have?
No, each persona is an independent identity. Unless you disclose it yourself, Dcard members cannot find your other personae from any of your persona pages.
-
After creating a new persona, can I modify the persona name and persona ID?
The rules are the same as with the original single persona. Each persona identity has only one chance to modify the ID, while the persona name can be modified an unlimited number of times.
-
My persona "A" already has creator status. Can my persona "B" directly obtain creator privileges?
No, creator status is determined separately. If you want your B persona to also have creator status, you need to reach the threshold using your B persona and apply again.
-
If I block a member with my A persona in private messages, can they still message my B persona?
When you block a member with one of your personae, all of your personae will be unable to receive private messages from any of their personae.
-
If I block a Dcard member on a board, can they still see posts from all my personae?
No, once you block a certain persona on a board, they will no longer be able to see articles or jots published by any of your personae.
-
If Persona A enables the NSFW setting on personal wall, will it affect Persona B?
No. Enabling “Mark this nickname's posts as NSFW” in the personal wall settings only means that the NSFW option will be enabled by default for each post made with that persona.
However, you can still turn off the NSFW flag during the posting process, so you're free to decide whether to mark each post as sensitive on a case-by-case basis.
