Private Messaging on Dcard
When a user posts or comments using a nickname and chooses to accept private messages, other members can click the private message button on the post or comment to send a message to the poster.
To access private messages after initiating a conversation, go to your personal page by tapping the menu icon "☰" on the bottom toolbar → Select "Messages" → "Private Messages" to find the conversation.
⚠️ Please note that Dcard cannot intervene in private message content between users. To avoid disputes, it is recommended to follow these principles:
- Do not follow others' instructions for bank transfers or remittances.
- Do not click on unknown links.
- Complete online transactions in person to avoid prepayment issues.
- If you need to keep a record of the conversation, please back it up yourself. In case of disputes, report through legal channels. Upon receiving a notice, Dcard will assist according to current service terms.

Can I use private messaging without a nickname?
Private messaging requires setting up a nickname first. Refer to this article for setting up a nickname.

Can every board use the private messaging feature?
Currently, only certain boards support this feature. If you don't see the accept private messages button when posting or commenting, it means the board doesn't support it.

How can I know which boards have this feature?
When selecting a board to post, if you see a "Private Messaging Available" label next to the board name, it means the board supports private messaging. You can check this option when posting or commenting. If the label is not present, the board does not support private messaging.

What should I do if someone harasses me?
In the messages page, click the three-dot icon 【⁝】 in the upper right corner to block the user. Once blocked, you will no longer receive messages from that user.
If the message content clearly violates the following private messaging rules, you can long-press the message to report it to the official team. Depending on the situation, Dcard may restrict the use of private messaging for a few days or permanently ban the violator from using the feature.
- Hate speech, violence, malicious harm, provocation
- Pornography, nudity, sexual acts, or uncomfortable content
- Commercial profit, advertising, commercial promotion
- Bullying or harassment
- Illegal activities
- Spam

Can personal information or inappropriate photos be exchanged in private messages?
Since private message content is considered user behavior, the official team will not interfere with the conversation content. However, please respect the other party's feelings.
If you receive a message that clearly violates private messaging rules, you can report it by long-pressing the message. The official team will handle it accordingly, and serious violations may result in the user being banned from using the private messaging feature.
